Philippine Army welcomes Sara Duterte, Robin Padilla as advisory board members
FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila (8 July 2020) – The Philippine Army Multi-Sector Advisory Board (PA MSAB) welcomed its new members during the Board’s 2nd Quarter Regular Meeting today done via video conferencing where Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte and actor Robin Padilla took their oath as advisory board members.
Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay led the oath-taking and ceremonial pinning of the Army Transformation Roadmap pin to the new members.
Board members are composed of individuals coming from the government, non-government, media, business, defense, and youth sectors.
The PA MSAB was created to promote the continuity and sustainability of the Army Transformation Roadmap and to encourage shared responsibility through its committees including Governance; Resource Management; Review and Assessment; Strategic Communication; and Research and Education.
The current board is led by Philippine Economic Zone Authority Director General Charito Plaza and composed of members from different sectors. Army reservist Matteo Guidicelli is also a member. Other personalities include businessmen Tony Aquino, Luigi Bernas, and Dr. Isabel Suntay.
Davao de Oro Governor Tyron Uy, former Congressman Dong Mangudadatu, Congressman Ruffy Biazon, DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, among others, are also members of the Board.
Duterte joined the education committee and was eventually selected as committee chair.
Padilla, on the other hand, joined the strategic communications committee where Guidicelli, Atty. Alex Lacson, and HRS Media founder, Harold Clavite, are also part of.
“Since the conception of MSAB, you have been our long-time partners in the navigation to realize our goals. Throughout the years, the Board’s existence has been evident—and significant—in bridging the gap between the Army, private sector, and civil society,” said Gapay.
”Serving as our accountability partners in the transformation strategy, you have shared with us the responsibility to uphold transparency,” he added.
“To the newly inducted members, I welcome you with gratitude, trusting in your commitment to champion the cause that is the Transformation Roadmap. Let us promote transparency, accountability, and efficiency. Let us become a world-class Army that is a source of national pride,” Gapay said in his closing speech.
The Board meets on a quarterly basis providing advisory support and accountability check and balance to the Philippine Army.
