PH Army’s 2nd mechanized brigade celebrates 10th activation anniversary
DITUCALAN, ILIGAN CITY (1 September 2020) — In a simple ceremony attended by Philippine Army officers and troops, multisector stakeholders, and local government partners, the 2nd Mechanized Infantry (Magbalantay) Brigade celebrated its 10th activation anniversary in the Armor Division here on Tuesday.
M.Gen. Generoso M. Ponio, Commander of the 1st Infantry Division, attended the event as Guest of Honor and Speaker.
An awarding ceremony recognizing the best EP/CAFGU within the area of responsibility of the brigade followed, which was headed by Ponio and Magbalantay Brigade Commander, B.Gen. Facundo Palafox Jr.
In the same event, a blessing ceremony of newly-arrived equipment was conducted.
According to Palafox, the anniversary marks the renewal of the Army’s commitment.
“This 10th anniversary celebration is a renewal of our commitment to serve and protect the people of Lanao Del Norte and Iligan. As guardians of peace, this is also our time to recognize outstanding achievements of our men,” said Palafox.
Lanao del Norte government officials were invited to witness the celebration which carries the theme “Sulong Magbalantay, Sampung Taon na Kaagapay Tungo sa Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran.”
Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Member of Parliament, Abdullah Macapaar, formerly known as Kumander Bravo of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) likewise attended the event representing the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
