Position: Creative Writer (both English & Filipino)

Contract: Project-based Individual Contractor; Part-time

Location: Home-based, preferably within Northern Mindanao - Region X


*Job may entail travel to Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Misamis Oriental, & Misamis Occidental, as projects may require.

*Shortlisted candidates may be asked to take a written exercise and interview.


  • Develop and write content for community-based stories for multimedia production (both video and feature article in HRS Media website / social media)

  • Develop script for digital stories in English and Filipino;

  • Develop content for web and social media platforms;

  • Conduct research on community-based stories.


  1. Minimum requirement: high school diploma; preferably, Bachelor‘s degree in Journalism, Mass Communications, Creative Writing or any relevant field;

  2. At least two (2) years experience in creative writing or development writing (for college graduates); Candidate must be able to demonstrate this requirement by providing writing samples both published and unpublished plus professional reference;

  3. At least four (4) years experience in above fields, (for HS graduates);

  4. At least one (1) year experience in digital and social media storytelling, blog writing, or editing;

  5. Well proven and demonstrated capacity and experience in the field of journalism, creative writing and highly engaging blog or social media products;

  6. Ability to cover several simultaneous requests and ability to set clear time plans and well scheduled work processes;

  7. Ability to network and establish good connections with field stakeholders and/or technical personnel for efficient and effective field work;

  8. Journalistic and production skills, editing, etc., preferred;

  9. Preferably, working experience in or knowledge of community development, poverty, gender equality, youth, government, culture and religion, among others;

  10. Cultural sensitivity and experience working with culturally diverse groups;

  11. Ability to participate in weekly face to face or teleconference meetings.

Application requirements:

  1. Curriculum vitae with at least 3 professional references (with email and phone numbers);

  2. At least 3 sample work submitted as either links or PDF attachments;

  3. Financial proposal — The Contractor is paid on a per-project basis. For one project, Contractor is required to provide a finished product, primarily, storyline and script, production of which entails research, coordination, etc. Any travel related to the project shall be covered by HRS Media and therefore should not be included in the financial proposal. Financial proposal shall contain the cost of one storyline/script for one video material ranging from 3 minutes (viral video) to 15 minutes (short documentary).
