Iligan City (15 March 2020) — Iligan Lone District Congressman Frederick Siao, Kauswagan Mayor Rommel Arnado, Baroy Mayor Rose Olafsson, and former Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Director-General Harold Clavite have been identified as persons under monitoring (PUM) and are currently under home quarantine.
Arnado and Olafsson attended the General Assembly of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) in Pasay City while Clavite who is now Communications Director in the League of Organic Agriculture Municipalities, Cities and Provinces of the Philippines (LOAMCP) also attended the LMP and several other meetings in Quezon City a few days prior to the declaration of community quarantine in Metro Manila. They all returned to Lanao del Norte on Friday.
On the other hand, Siao attended meetings in the House of Representatives last week, where a Coronavirus-infected employee had died yesterday.
The officials did not manifest flu-like symptoms but because of their travel history, they have been classified PUMs based on Department of Health advisory and all volunteered to be subjected to medical assessment and monitoring. Clavite likewise arrived Manila on February 26 from the United States with a layover in Korea where a spike of Coronavirus cases were recorded the past three weeks.
The officials were visited by their respective barangay health emergency response teams (BHERTs) today where their travel history data were logged and their body temperature taken.
On their Facebook posts, the officials clarified that while on quarantine, they continue with their official functions while working remotely.
